February is WinterFest Season in Muskoka

February is the peak of the winter season here in Muskoka, and that means it’s time for winter festivals across the region. Listed below are just some of the community festivals which are coming up, so mark your calendar and get the family out for some winter-time fun.

Port Sydney Winter Carnival – February 1st – 3rd.  Three days of free activities await, including horse & wagon rides, snowshoeing, skating, tubing, a pancake breakfast and more. Head over to the Port Sydney Community Hall and Mary Lake Beach for this weekend of fun – the perfect way to get the month started!

Muskoka Winter Bike FestFebruary 2nd.  There’s nothing like fat-tire biking in the snow. Wider tires give better traction allowing for recreational biking all year long. This sport has continued to grow in popularity, culminating in the Muskoka Winter Bike Fest. The race will be held at the Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville and is family friendly. Whether you join the race or not, there’ll be plenty of fun on hand, including live entertainment, a big bonfire and a kids’ course for the young ones.

Dwight Winter CarnivalFebruary 8th– 10th.  Head over to Dwight for a community carnival full of fun for all ages. Both outdoor and indoor activities will be on hand at the Dwight Community Centre, but the annual dart tournament is held at the Bush Company Bar & Grill. Some of the fun to look forward to includes Kid Kapers games and winter science activities, archery demonstrations, a chili cook-off, horse-drawn sleigh rides and more will be on tap; new this year is a family skate night at the Dwight Community Rink to get the carnival started.

Baysville WinterfestFebruary 18th.  Being held at the Lake of Bays Community Centre & Arena, the activities and treats are free at the Baysville Winterfest, such as ice skating, kids’ crafts, a pancake breakfast, hot chocolate, campfire marshmallows and entertainment. Live music and comedy shows will highlight this winterfest along with donut and pie-eating contests and a local business chili challenge. Also returning this year is the ‘Zoo to You’ exhibit, with more than 20 exotic animals you can interact with.

Don’t stay cooped up this winter, get out and have some fun at our winter festivals this February.
